E.V. Fairfall asked Ara Grigorian:

What is your favorite part about writing a book?

Ara Grigorian There are two phases that I love: the idea creation and revision.

When a new idea comes to me, I feel the same excitement I felt when I met someone new. I go through a love affair of sorts with the new story. It's all about knowing the main characters better, learning what it is that they want from life, and what's stopping them. I get to a point that I know the main characters so well that I almost think they're real (my therapist says the new medication will help with that!)

Then comes the revision process. This is where after I've written the draft, the true story becomes obvious. The theme -- heart -- of the story shows itself and I see all the areas that I've gone off track. As I revise, the story tightens. I love seeing how all the pieces come together and how a simple concept had so much more to it.
