Hello! I wanted to thank you first, you are one of my favourite authors. I discovered that I have trouble introducing miles to new readers. Cordelia's Honor works with women, but they want a Cordelia book after. Warriors Apprentice- a friend said, fun read, but she did not crave for the next book. it really had me thinking. Maybe Memory is a good start for readers who shy away from space opera?
Lois McMaster Bujold
Well, I wouldn't rec starting with Memory, simply because so much of the impact of the book rests on what went before. I don't think there is a sure-fire Vorkosiverse starter-book -- readers' tastes are too different, and the books are not all the same. The series does build by accumulation, and I have tried to make each volume work as a stand-alone, although that has become harder over time.
Borders of Infinity is a sort of sampler-platter, and short, so that might be worth trying.
I could ask readers to chime in, here, though I'm pretty sure it would not result in consensus.

Hi Lois, I was curious as to wether you have ever been approached about writing any Star Wars novels? Would that be something you would be interested in? I often wondered how the process would work, would you be given a storyline and go with that, obviously sticking to certain histories within the canon. Apologies if you have been asked this many times which i suspect you have. Thank you for your time.

I just finished Penric and the Bandit, and loved Penric's role as a divine in Roz's journey. I also found it interesting that compared to early days Penric seems less sorrowful about the damage he has to do to others. One question I had was the reminder of the number of Orban sorcerers, incl. Alixtra Dubro and Ota. Is there a supervisor of sorcerors in Dogrita? How does Pen relate to him/her?

Although Miles' romances are always with women significantly taller than he is (in part because nearly everybody is) I've noticed the cover art always finds a way to avoid showing a short man with a tall woman. Either we see people head to head or a secondary character with his girl instead of Miles, etc. How do you feel about this phenomenon?
