Hawkins, I as of just moments ago finished The Library at Mount Char. I am an avid fan of fantasy but can say in the hundreds of titles I have read, I have not come across a work like this. I am enchanted, and like many others, I NEED a sequel! I need to know what Carolyn's plan is and what Erwin will do in his new endeavors. Pretty-freaking-please? :)

(view spoiler)[Hi Dani!
Heh--thanks! I'm really glad you liked it.
I've been chewing on this one a lot lately. The short answer is that I'd like to do a sequel, but I'm not convinced that I can do one that isn't disappointing in some way.
Probably what's going to happen is that when I get done with my current work-in-progress I'm going to sit down and make some notes on a Mount Char sequel.
The main problem I'm concerned about is the "regression completeness" thing. Mount Char was written so that you could read through back through the book a second time and many of the scenes would have a new layer of meaning because you knew what was really going on. That's a tricky balancing act.
If I was going to do a sequel with another surprise reveal(s) it would have to not only work in the context of the new book, but also in the context of Mount Char. Because the stuff in Mount Char is pretty much set in stone at this point, that would make a difficult trick even harder.
Which is not to say "no,"--I'd like to, I miss those guys too--but just that I can't promise anything. (hide spoiler)]

Found your book here in Canada on Chapter.Indigo site on Heather Reisman's List of Top 20 Novels of 2015. I loved the book! Carolyn was just so darn quirky. Also, so many times I was certain where the plot was heading...but it always went in a completely different direction. Any talk of movie rights being picked up? -Bob
