Chris Mentillo
Chris Mentillo asked Caitlin Rother:

What ideally made you decide to make a transition from journalist to book writer?

Caitlin Rother I was covering the Kristin Rossum case for my newspaper, The San Diego Union-Tribune, when I was so intrigued, I decided I wanted to write a book about it. After the trial was over, I wrote a book proposal and took a six-month leave to write it. It was so satisfying to be able to dig deep into a case (versus being so limited with short stories in the newspaper) that I quit the paper to pursue being an author full-time. My seventh book hit the NYT bestseller list, and I'm now about to release my 14th book. I love the freedom of picking the stories I want to investigate in depth.
