Charlotte asked Kasey Jackson:

I'm really excited to read "Blue" I haven't ever read any books involving albinism before. What inspired you to write about it in the first place and did you have to do a ton of research for the history piece of it? (Since it sounds really complex)

Kasey Jackson I was inspired to write about the harvest of people with albinism after watching a documentary about it. Because, the fact is, it is true, much of the book is true and deals with real-life historical facts and social justice issues.

And yes! I researched the history for this book for months before I actually started writing. All of the facts about the setting and the jacaranda trees and the dates in the book are all based around real-life historic events that happened in South Africa at this time. Many of my readers have found it extremely fun to go and look up these facts for themselves, and because of this, they have a hard time deciphering what was real and what was fiction. :)
