Goodreads asked R.J. Castro:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

R.J. Castro The story will let you know when it is done. One of the biggest questions I get is how I write such long books. Honestly, I write what needs to be written. I know the plot points I need to hit but its the characters that really feed the story with their struggles, feelings and choices. I let them breathe the way they are supposed to, and I try to make them understandable even if you don't agree with them because everyone has a cause for what they are doing and sometimes you need to hear them out. And most importantly, don't compare your work to others. No two books are alike.
