Hi Laurie! I love your books- they're so compelling. Do you ever find it hard writing from the POV of a character going through these experiences? How do you get inside their head? Thank you!

Laurie Halse Anderson I take my time. I imagine the world of the characters and the challenges facing them. I figure out their secret fears and joys, their known desires and hidden dreams. At some point in the process, the character's voice becomes distinct from mine. That's when I leap into the story.
