Dear Ms Forsyth, i enjoyed listening to both bitter greens and wild girl and I'm looking forward to reading more of your work! about the latter book I was wondering how much of Dorchen's life as narrated in the novel did actually happen and how much was fiction? I'm mainly thinking about dorchen's relationship with her father and the terrible things she had to go through beacuse of him! Thank you
Kate Forsyth
Dear Paola
I'm so glad that you've enjoyed my books & I hope you go on and read many more!
Virtually nothing was known about Dortchen's life at all - even her birthdate was difficult for me to discover - and so the book is built out of snippets of what was known. In my Afterword, I explain how I went about piecing together her life from the stories she told - basically I looked to the stories to give me some indication of her inner life. So its all guesswork, but informed as much as possible by what was known. There is a lot more about her on my blog, if you'd like to go and explore.
all my best
Kate

Kate Forsyth:
Greetings! I have very recently demolished the The Witches of Eileanan series, and when finished I was so sad that I didn't have another book to continue on. I felt as though the research of the rituals, of festivals and everything the witches did was so well done (are you also a Pagan?) and the Scottish accents made me feel like my Gran was reading to me. Thank you so much for such a wonderful journey :)

I've only just started reading Bitter Greens, and I really like it. I had added it to my Goodreads List awhile back and had forgotten about it. Between when I added it to my list and now I have had a renewed interest in fairy tales.I wonder if you have any plans to write a similarly styled story about Red Riding Hood?

Hi Kate! When I was about 14, I discovered the magical world of Eileanan and ever since, it's remained one of my favourite series EVER. Will you ever expand on the Witches and Rhiannon series in that land? Will you ever write high fantasy for adults again? I write this as a huge fan of your work <3 xx Rosie
