A Goodreads user asked Edgar Cantero:

Loved the book, somehow as the whole operation got crazier and crazier it kept me rooted in "Well this isn't too crazy, it could happen!" But my main question is, do you plan on revealing A.'s name/background? I kept thinking that's what the cipher would be in the beginning....

Edgar Cantero Hi, and thank you for choosing TSE. Unprofessional as it may seem, the main reason why the male lead is always called A. is that when I first had to give his name I couldn't bother to think of a good one, so I provisionally used an initial. Once deeper into the book, it became a fun challenge to keep dodging the question, and thus A. stayed A. The ambiguity fit the rest of the book anyway, and I don't think detailing a character's background always adds to the story. If I ever do other books in the series, I hope to disclose his name and nationality, but don't expect any dramatic revelations there. :)
