Goodreads asked Erik Mercer:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Erik Mercer A writer's block is your book telling you, that you shouldn't write this particular scene just yet.

While there is no general solution to the problem that works for everybody, my personal experience is that as an author I never "write a book"--I "write", period. If I can't go on with scene X today, I move somewhere else, knowing that my book will tell me what it wants to do with the missing scene "when it's ready".
