What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Caitlin Lynagh Read, read, read, and continue reading. Read absolutely everything you can get your hands on, it's the best way to learn. If you have a completed draft then I would recommend submitting your work to competitions, you may get a publishing deal that way. However, if you find you're not getting anywhere with competitions or publishing houses, do pay for a good copy-editor and proof reader and then self-publish.
