Has it been especially thrilling recently as more and more of the futuristic concepts you've used are becoming closer and closer to reality? Or did you choose those concepts precisely because you felt they were most likely to happen/had the most practical application? (plot reasons aside, of course) Apropos of Cordelia's latest book coming out this week, VAT-GROWN MEAT!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y027yLT2QY0

I'd say gratifying rather than thrilling. (I do hope some of my more horrific hypothetical inventions do NOT come to pass!) I show what I do mainly for plot reasons; after that, practicality and likelihood do come into play.

In your "five gods" stories, you use the word "vail" as a noun in a way that implies a gratuity or emolument, but the only definition I can find suggests its usage was as a verb, meaning to show submission or respect, typically by removing a hat. How did you come by your usage of this word?

Do you follow any online authors? I enjoy a few, like Drew Hayes, who post a couple chapters a week from his latest work. Allowing fans to act as beta readers, before the final polish. Another good one is Wildbow. Since they write just for online, they aren't restricted in length and write until the story is told. I think Worm, (https://parahumans.wordpress.com), is the best one. It's about equal to 10 books.

Lois McMaster Bujold:
Des explains their differing reactions to the Bastard at the end of ‘Demon Daughter’ that Atto is too young to be corrupt and so doesn’t fear Him, and Des is too old not to be corrupt and so fears being taken by Him. Is there any possible fate for a demon other than their destruction at some point, either by a Saint of the Bastard after ascending their host, or by the Bastard Himself for killing a person?
