I always develop an outline prior to actually delving into my writing. Consequently, I rarely (if ever) have to deal with writer's block. This is a critical step in my writing process. It allows me to know precisely, ahead of time, what I'm writing about. It organizes my thoughts and allows me to write based on a set of preset topics as I move through writing my novels.
