Hi Ruta! Im from Spain and I have read Between Shades of Gray(Entre tonos de gris here) and Out of Easy. I also have relatives near Russia and they told me how they lived during the URSS occupation,as you tell in Shades of Gray,so your book helped me to understand how terrible those years were. Well, my question is:Which period are you planning to write about in the future?Germany during Nazism,The Hundred Years' War?

Hello Hellie!
Thank you for reading "Between Shades of Gray" and "Out of the Easy!" To answer your question, the time period I am going to write about for my next book is—Spain during the Franco regime!
I'm hard at work on the book and have already done a lot of research. I will come to Spain in October to promote the Spanish edition of "Salt to the Sea" and research my new book.
Thanks! :)

I have read your book & I'm not kidding I fell apart when Lina's mom dies, she was such a image of kindness & utter love. And the epilogue HOW GREAT!!! I'd like to know if you're gonna make another book about this, I mean what happens when they go back to their country. And how Lina found Andrius, I'm craving. There is gonna be another book?

I absolutely enjoyed Salt to the Sea, and have also previously read Between Shades of Grey, which I also loved. Regarding Salt to the Sea, I loved the characters and their back stories (and how you revealed them), and was wondering what inspired you to create these characters with the background you gave them? Also, what motivates you to write in general?

Hi Ruta! I loved OotE and BSoG! I'm an aspiring author and avid writer. I love to write LGBTQ fiction, and I also want to tackle writing historical fiction one day. But I have a firm belief that LGBTQ people deserve to see characters like them in fiction who don't die sad and alone, and I'm not sure how to combine these two genres while still retaining that principle. Do you have any tips? Thank you!!
