Goodreads asked A.H. Scott:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

A.H. Scott Well, it came about in an odd way. I wasn't even thinking about writing anything much in this year of unfortunate reality. I've been just trying to unplug from all the gloom of this year with music. Just sitting and trying to clear my mind with a few tunes. And, then soft wave of guitar strumming and a most luscious voice came over me. BAM! I was taken hold in a most wonderful way.

My mind just clicked on the lyrics to the song and absorbing the words the singer sung. Then, another song came over the speakers and it heightened by perspective on what could I put into words that could reflect such emotion that a vocalist brought across in a powerful performance of a song. (Of course, I'm not going to reveal what the first song or second song was. Because, if I do, then it will reveal the story of why my latest book has the title it has) I'll just say that things that may seem the same on the surface, are in actuality sometimes totally opposite. I guess it could chalked up to mistaken identity and a singular chance of choice. Then, from the seed of the music that got me thinking, I chose the setting and the characters started forming in my mind. And, to think from a pair of songs I heard and two amazing singers; it all started popping off the title of "Bad Guys Finish Fast & Good Guys Finish Last".

Wow, sometimes it's the little things that hit me. And, my imagination just took off like a rocket to the moon. Or, in this case, a journey into the rising and ebbing dimensions of fiery characters.

Oh, by the way, if I revealed what the two songs were that set off the sexy tale of "Bad Guys Finish Fast & Good Guys Finish Last", nobody would believe it could be possible that those melodies could have been the spice of percolation for inspiring such a vivid story. But, then again, that's the power of the written word. You never know how they'll affect the human soul.
