I'm butting in here Mr Schwalbe. I love Y/A literature and used to teach 7th/8th grade. My all-time favorites are The Book Thief (Zusak), The Giver (Lois Lowry) and Dandelion Wine (Ray Bradbury). Recent things I've enjoyed are I'll Give You The Sun (Jandy Nelson), The Fault in Our Stars (John Green) and Secret Wisdom of the Earth (Scotton). Have you read those?
Will Schwalbe
So delighted to see your reply. Dandelion Wine is one of my favorite books ever. It's just breathtaking. I loved The Book Thief. And I liked The Giver a great deal, but it's odd to read it AFTER reading so many of the books it inspired. It has been so imitated that reading it almost feels like deja vu, which of course isn't fair to it at all. It is a marvelous book. I loved I'll Give You The Sun -- and The Fault in Our Stars. But I have not yet read Secret Wisdom of the Earth. Since we share the same feelings about the other books you listed, I'm DEFINITELY adding this one to the list. Thank you!

Hi Will, I've read both your books.. and LOVED them! The End of Your Life Book Club, and Books for Living! Had discovered them at a library in Singapore. I really like the question - What are you reading? It opens up to a lot of interesting conversations and answers all the time! Just writing this message to thank you for sharing your beautiful journey! :) Regards, Daya

We haven't spoken for a while but I just read your reply about When Breathe Becomes Air and have just started it. I hope your book is coming along nicely. I have read some wonderful books so far this year I hope this one is as good as everyone says it is. A Little Life nearly destroyed me, what a story. I love reading what other people think of your book, you have helped so many, better than any review from a critic?
