Goodreads asked April L. Wood:

How do you get inspired to write?

April L. Wood Various things inspire me to write. For instance, WINTER'S CURSE was inspired by the Syrian Refugee Crisis, endometriosis, and, of all things, a Nirvana song. Jumble all that together and we have WINTER'S CURSE.

Inspiration surrounds us daily. If you wait to be inspired, you will never write. You just have to pull things from your everyday life and make it your own.

Also, stepping outside your comfort zone with your writing will only make you a better writer. So, broaden your horizons and write that sex scene/step out of your genre and if it doesn't work, that's ok too. There's a fine line between safe and stale!
