Even though Beat the Rain is a work of fiction, I couldn't help to think how Adam is a writer and has two children, and so do you. How much of your own-if any-personal experiences and struggles took part in shaping his character?

Firstly, thank you so much for your lovely review. You missed a fresh Game of Thrones to finish it ... it's my book and I'm not sure even I'd do that :D
To answer your question, I was the stay at home parent with my two children, so in that sense, I brought some of my emotional experience as a man in that role to the table with Adam in Beat The Rain - the same with being a writer.
That said, I've been in a very happy relationship for the past 22 years, so Adam and Louise's marriage isn't reflective of my own ... I'd like to think we both make less questionable decisions than they do :)
