Are you planning a sequel to The Library at Mount Char? I need a sequel. Please, will there be a sequel? There must be a sequel. Sequel.
Scott Hawkins
Mmmmaybe?
I really would like to do it--I miss those guys too--but I don't want to do a sequel just to do a sequel. Sometimes it's better to leave well enough alone, you know? For instance, I absolutely love Silence of the Lambs, but if I had it to do over again I think I would have skipped Hannibal Rising. Harris is one of my all-time favorite writers, but in that particular case I think he should have left well enough alone. One wonder$ what he wa$ thinking.
That said, it's crossed my mind to do a couple of short stories or maybe novellas that focus on the librarians who didn't get much page time. I can't promise it will work out, but I'll probably take a whack at one once I finish up the book I'm working on now.
The current one isn't a sequel to Mount Char, but it's in kind of the same vein--fantasy set in the modern world.

I don't have a question, other than maybe the sequel question ( already answered). Just wanted to say that I LOVED Library at Mt Char- I learned of it via BookRiot. Read, loved it, gave it to my daughter (22), ditto! Thanks! A cross between American Gods and Harry Potter- so perfect! More, please?

Hey Scott, just finished up reading Mount Char and I had a fantastic time with it. It flowed so well and was an absolute blast to read. Look forward to whatever comes in the future. Do you ever plan on writing a sci fi novel? The scene towards the end where Carolyn replaces the Sun reminded me of a scene in Reynolds' Redemption Ark. Something about galaxies being represented on a small scale resonates with me.
