Cynthia, how many years did it take to write the book and did you face any rejections in the process?

Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney Chris, I started the book towards the end of my MFA program as my thesis. From the time I started it to the time it was bought by Ecco/HarperCollins was about three years. Although I received rejections from various agents and editors when the book was out on submission, I also received offers during both those points so I was very very lucky with this one.

Hi Cynthia! I loved your book. I found it very entertaining and I couldn't wait to see how it ended. I have 2 questions. How long did it take you to write the Nest from beginning to end? Also, I'd like to know how you deal with negative critiques and criticism in general, including random comments online. It seems like no one in the creative fields has immunity from criticism. It can be painful for anyone.
