To answer your Qs....

Lots of things inspire me, sometimes its a music video or a movie. In Adam's case, I just always wanted to write about a Navy SEAL and Audrey came to life - who doesn't love a strong independent woman?

I spend a lot of time researching. It varies each time but enough efforts needs to be put it to make your story sound authentic. Writing about serving your country and not truly understanding what that means can very easily translate to the reader and that just shows lack of commitment to the story.

Crystal Valley is totally fictional :)
