Goodreads asked Lynette Sofras:

How do you get inspired to write?

Lynette Sofras Inspiration usually comes from real life – from the merest snip of an experience or overheard conversation; sometimes also from dream fragments. For example, with ‘In Loving Hate’, I woke up one morning remembering a fragment of a dream. In it, I saw an attractive but rather unhappy woman who was about to enter her very elegant home, when two things happened. She saw an unfamiliar car parked outside and, as she paused to look at it, from the corner of her eye, saw a movement at one of the upper windows of her house and realised she was being observed by someone who shouldn’t be there. As I woke up, her story crowded into my mind.
Another story, ‘Shopping for Love’ came about after a visit to a supermarket when a sweet, elderly gentleman made a passing comment about the tomatoes on sale there. That gave me the idea of two people meeting as they shopped for elderly friends/relatives. I started that story without knowing how it would progress, but each chapter just seemed to write itself.
