Goodreads asked K.A. Potter-Hughes:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

K.A. Potter-Hughes Just do it! I met a writer at a state writers conference when I was a small town reporter. Before she signed her book for me, we chatted, and I said I "wanted to be a writer some day." She asked if I had written anything. I laughed as I confessed I had a file drawer filled with novels written in spiral notebooks
The book was inscribed, "To a writer."
Writers have to believe and be honest about what they write and find a trusted friend who will read your stuff, providing feedback.
