Honestly, a few different ways, but the biggest one is probably music. Its my biggest muse. The characters will normally already be swimming around in my head, but I'll hear a song, and a scene will play out in my head then you'll watch me scramble for my laptop or my phone or a notebook to get it down so I don't lose it!
