Goodreads asked Heather Karn:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Heather Karn Hmm, this is an interesting one. I usually don't write an extremely detailed outline, but I know what I want to happen. Sometimes as I'm writing, I get to a scene where I have a hard time writing it, and nothing wants to flow. This is my writer's block. Everything sort of dead ends and even I'm bored. When I get to that point, I back track to where that scene started and completely rewrite it into a new scene. It always works out that way much better than the original anyway. It seems like a bit of work, but I'll take it over a boring, hard to get through scene.
Otherwise, if I just can't make an idea work, I focus on something else for a while. And when all else fails, I'll take a walk with my headphones in. That's when I get most of my inspiration anyway. I spend most of my lunch breaks walking and working out the plots for my series. Or just letting my mind wander where it will.
