Ideas are everywhere. Most of them aren't actually all that interesting. My stories come from latching on to a notion and then asking myself what I could do to increase the stakes or make it wilder and more unexpected. I try to keep adding complications and layers of intrigue until what might have started as pedestrian turns into something that can keep my interest through everything that writing 400+ pages of story involves.
