I heard about the Once Upon Now—a contest to rewrite a fairy tale in a modern setting—and decided it sounded fun. I decided to use a fairy tale that wasn't too common. And something about "Princess and the Pea" bothered my modern sensibility. For a woman to prove herself by being sensitive and vulnerable, and, if we're totally being honest, a bit of a whiner. No one would want to go camping with this girl! So to modernize, I thought I'd have the her prove herself with her brain and business acumen instead.
