I like to use photograph prompts. These can be as simple or complex as I wish. Sometimes I focus on a small detail, or a huge photograph. Sometimes, I ask my family to say a word and then base a poem around it. Sometimes, it just happens.
People tend to get surprised that I will sometimes stop what I'm doing and write ferociously- but it's just a random inspiration moment.
