Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Scott McGaugh Honor Before Glory (the remarkable rescue mission by a Japanese American unit in WWII) began when I discovered nearly 100 largely unseen oral history of those Japanese-American heroes at the Go For Broke National Education Center. Ultimately I spent nearly a week on the same forested ridge in France where the rescue mission took place, imagining the horrific casualties while sitting in foxholes that remain to this day.
