Try the Chalion series, or The Sharing Knife tetralogy. Neither will be the same, note, not even as each other, because what would be the point of that (from the writer's point of view, at least.) But if you can go into them planning to take them for what they are, rather than pre-riled 'cause they aren't another Miles book, I think they would repay your eyeball time.
In other current writers, I can rec Megan Whalen Turner's YA fantasy series starting with The Thief, and Ben Aaronovitch's urban/crime fantasy series starting with Rivers of London -- US title Midnight Riot.

Although Miles' romances are always with women significantly taller than he is (in part because nearly everybody is) I've noticed the cover art always finds a way to avoid showing a short man with a tall woman. Either we see people head to head or a secondary character with his girl instead of Miles, etc. How do you feel about this phenomenon?

We have done a cosplay of Miles and Ekaterin based on written descriptions and some imagination (it helps that my other half is 5" taller than I am) but we also want to do a generic Vor couple. I want to portray a Major in ImpSec, but I cannot find a full listing of the ranks with collar tab colors in any wiki. Do you have it all written out? Also, from my lady: What do Vor ladies wear routinely?
