Goodreads asked Tony Gavin:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Tony Gavin Write about a subject that you are passionate about and don't write to appeal to other people's ideals, only your own. An author's writing style is his own, as unique as his signature and his readers will be those of a similar ilk and who appreciate him for those qualities and for his unique writing style. Attempting to imitate another author's writing style I suspect would not be easy and would interrupt your flow and therefore the natural flow of your story.
