Bill P asked Ron Scheer:

Is it difficult to fabricate the geography of a fictional work? I appreciated the details of Dillon's travels as I read the story. In a lot of current post apocalyptic fiction, firearms take a front seat in the story, frequently kidnapping the plot. Was your limited use of guns in the plot intentional or incidental?

Ron Scheer The geography occurred as a combination of two towns. One I live in and one that's about fifteen miles away.

The firearms question is interesting. There are several instances in the story where guns are displayed without shot being fired. I did this because I thought that after 30 years there would be a very limited supply of ammo. Even in the Midwest where it's not uncommon for gun owners to horde munitions, they still have to eat, and nothing brings game down faster than a well aimed bullet.
