Goodreads asked Dominick R. Domingo:

How do you get inspired to write?

Dominick R. Domingo I so love writing that I could do it any time, anywhere, prompting myself by warming up, or assigning myself an exercise that frees up what's germinating in my subconscious. For example, the stories in Far From the Thick of Things are all 'incongruous juxtapositions'; the extraordinary in the ordinary. Taking that premise and simply listing such juxtapositions could be considered an 'exercise,' one that results in a jumping off point. Having said that, the most organic way inspiration strikes me personally ( and likely resulting in the writing that most transcends/speaks to others ) is this: After a trying spell in my life, during which my mind is chewing on a life lesson or trying to resolve a conflict--simply, put, trying to process something, I see or hear or otherwise witness a corresponding image that sets a story in motion. If the creative process is friendly, my intuition takes the opportunity to work through the rite of passage ( morning a loss, for example ) and arrive at the meaning in what I've been through. This catharsis and hopefully epiphany, is what I love to share with others, hoping to make a difference on the 'macro' level!
