Mark Speed Thanks! The book designer and I spent quite a while in Waterstones looking at covers. Douglas Adams was a major influence, and that's what you're seeing there. Also, I'd had to take some legal advice about not infringing BBC copyright, and had to take that into account. Even though I can write what I write under the so-called 'satire defence', the covers have to be noticeably different. We had to not show the obvious figure of the protagonist on the cover (in the Doctor Who book series, you always see when regeneration of the Doctor you're getting). It's been quite a journey, and I'm so glad you like them! :-D
