Goodreads asked M.D. Kambic:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

M.D. Kambic Everest Rising evolved out of combination of factors. One key factor is enjoying books that place the 'common man/woman' into scenarios where some aspect of normal life is suddenly wrenched out into the extraordinary. Not by spaceships or monsters or undead minions, but a twist in the continuum of life that hurtles everyone into a startling changed reality.

The most obvious example would be Jurassic Park– where a scientific breakthrough allows dinosaurs to re-walk the earth. Jules Verne also marched scientists and explorers through adventures that kept the foundation of our existence intact, while revealing a 'Mysterious Island' or 'The Center of the Earth.' Many authors approach their books this way.

If I can create engaging and engaged characters who suddenly need to navigate an unprecedented alteration in everything they take for granted as normal, I (and hopefully my readers) will be on a journey worth taking.
