That's the most fun part of the job, Hania. Researching the time period, then weaving in the characters is so satisfying, but it needs to be historically accurate. So I have a giant timeline written in pencil (since I change it often) that I use, into which I insert characters and events and scenes. Makes writing it so much more organized.

Having 'read' this book by bouncing between print and audio, I found that, once again, there was a narrator that didn't work for me - Caroline. This leads me to ask, 'Do authors select the narrators?" Since I loved this book and was further intrigued after reading the Author Notes, I decided it was time to ask about this issue. Too often female narrators are wispy and weak sounding when in fact a character is strong.

I loved Lilac Girls and I'm glad to hear there's another book on the way! My debut novel, Kelegeen, was released on March 1, 2018. I'm with a small publisher so I have to do most of the marketing myself. I've just begun research for the sequel, but finding little time for it with all the marketing obligations. Any suggestions for balancing the two while also working a 9-5 day job?
