Hey so I have read all your books and I found it very interesting that there are many things that parallel the bible and some religions. Such as the trinity, blood atonement, and other things. So I am wondering are you a Christian, Mormon, or a Catholic? Also I am kind of wondering about material that Errol's staff was made of. i assume that it was created by the malus, but is there more to it? Thanks!

James,
I would consider myself an orthodox Christian, which would be an umbrella term that would include Catholic, Anglican, Greek, and other Eastern Orthodox communities. As you can tell, it has a pretty big influence on my writing because the history is so rich.
The staff Errol used against the malus is a titanium alloy. The malus had that technology, but people didn't. I introduced it for what turned out to be a pretty nerdy reason: I needed a staff that would conduct electricity and wood is a poor conductor, right? Like I said, pretty nerdy.

Patrick, I'm currently reading A Draw of Kings. In chapter 12 Errol and his crew are on captain Tek's ship. When you cut back to them at chapter 15, they are on a ship captained by Piet Vitus, and no mention is made of Errol. Did I miss something or will all be explained later?I'm about to start chapter 17. Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi Mr. Carr I just started reading "A Cast of Stones", and in the very first chapter there is a phrase that I have never seen or heard before. I've looked it up and have tried to break it down, but I can't seem to make sense of it. "Twisting, he spotted Liam, all eight perfect spans of him..." I have never heard someone described like that, so I am curious as to what a "perfect span" of a person is. Thank you! ?
