Goodreads asked J.L. Pete:

How do you get inspired to write?

J.L. Pete The best way I get inspired is by reading other books. If I'm working on a particular story line, I'll watch movies or shows related to what I'm writing about.

When I was writing Call It Magic, I watched anything and everything on time travel. I also watched about a million YouTube videos on Houdini and magic tricks.

For one story I wrote, An Escort Walks into a Bar, I watched movies like American Gigolo and a series called Gigolos. You know, for research. My next novel coming out in October, Death Drives a Minivan, came from a dream I had. I take inspiration wherever I can get it.

Music is also a big inspiration for writing. I'll write full scenes listening to one song on a loop.
