Goodreads asked Miantae Metcalf McConnell:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Miantae Metcalf McConnell For me, the best thing about being a writer is delving into the creative, examining points of view, exploring my imagination, watching substance emerge, though at times it doesn't seem like it will... I often become aware, via the subject matter I'm writing about, of my personal perspectives and challenge myself to expand my points of view, and as a result of the process, notice that I have changed from the experience of writing the story.

This is meaningful to me, and a good reason to be selective in choosing what I want to write about. It's like choosing a journey - you choose where you're going but have no idea what surprise meetings and situations you'll find yourself in.

On the practical side, it's great to be able to work wherever you are, and choose your own hours and govern the process with perseverance, compassion and patience if you can - I should say, if I can. A good challenge.

Thank you for asking. Sometimes I forget how wonderful it can be!
