I absolutely ADORED "Behind Closed Doors" and I wanted to ask: HOW DID YOU DO IT!? I'm currently trying to write my first novel but it's so hard because I want it to be perfect! Do you have any tips for new writers on how to keep the story interesting throughout the whole novel?

Hi Laura,
I'm so glad you enjoyed Behind Closed Doors! I'm not quite sure how I did it but first of all, it has to be a story you're passionate about, with characters that you care about, because that makes it easier to write. I think the best thing is just to write, don't worry about it being perfect because that comes when you start editing your work after the first draft. And to keep the story interesting, it depends on the genre you're writing but if it's a thriller, to make it interesting, you need to keep the story moving forwards. So make sure that something is always happening or about to happen.
I hope this helps - good luck!

First I want to say thank you, I loved this book! As did my bookclub! We had 3 questions...1) who gets married without having sex 1st these days - why wasn't it an issue for them or topic of their conversation? 2) what was he doing in Bangkok - sex with minors, murdering people, paying to mentally or physically torture people, or.....? 3) Who is playing them in the movie?!!!

Behind closed doors was an incredible read! I convinced my co workers to read said book and now they understand why I was so captivated. They’ve since read your other brilliant work. I don’t know what about this certain part that I loved so much, but in the end when Graces’ acquaintance/friend Esther, asked “What colour was Millies’ room, Grace?” the hair rose on the back of my neck. It was a big WOW read for me!!
