Hannah Hofstatter
Hannah Hofstatter asked Melanie Dickerson:

Hey Melanie Dickerson! I am a HUGE fan of your books, and they all make me feel like a little princess when I read them. I love how you can see God in every circumstance and how he works it out. And I would love it if you could give me some tips. I have been writing a book based on the Iron Age in Ireland and maybe France, and I was wondering if you had any tips on research or writing in general?

Melanie Dickerson Hi, Hannah! I guess I would say, familiarize yourself with your setting by reading books about it, then research the details as you write by using the internet. As for writing, once again, read as much as you can about how to write well and revise and edit well. There are tons of great articles online, and also some great books out there. My favorite blog is Seekerville.blogspot.com and my favorite books are The First Five Pages by Noah Lukeman
Goal, Motivation, and Conflict by Debra Dixon
Self-Editing for Fiction Writers by Browne and King
Writing the Breakout Novel by Donald Maass
Plot and Structure (and lots more books) by James Scott Bell
Go Teen Writers by Williamson and Morrill
I hope this helps! God bless!
