Hi Kevin, sending best wishes as you embark on writing your third novel. Hope it proves to be a tremendously rewarding experience! Flannery O'Connor said, “Writing a novel is a terrible experience, during which the hair often falls out and the teeth decay." My question is - Is there any way a writer can limit their teeth and hair loss? :-)

Thanks, Anne!

What does happen when I'm in full-on writing mode is that my social life takes a back seat, I eat anything that can be prepared in seconds, and personal grooming goes out of the window!
Oh, how I suffer for my art.
But I love it! : )

This isn't a question, per se, but, whilst taking a leisurely "surf" through this website, I happened across one of your rather forthright quips. It states in a rather bleak, yet beautiful tone, "Sadly, there are writers who wouldn't know an umlaut from an omelet." After reading it thrice, the only (amusing) words that came to me were, "Trüe, trüe . . ." Any particular inspiration for the quote?

Yesterday I got a copy of your latest novel, The Fish that Climbed a Tree. I was showing it to some friends, and one of them said that he thought the title seemed familiar, as if he'd seen it, or a very similar one before. Strangely enough, I've had the same feeling, although I'm sure you took pains to avoid plagiarism. Could you say something about what inspired this title? Thank you.

Kevin, this is not a question but a post on your adulation. I admire the way you draw parallels and similarities between books. You are extremely well-read. I learn a lot from your zeal and avidity for writing and passion for books. I went through one of your books, and must say the world should get ready to welcome a magically realistic author, Kevin!?
