Rick Riordan:
Do you think being an author is a good career choice right of the bat. You started out as a teacher and wrote while doing that. I know thats what a lot of people do. Do you think i should start out as trying to be an author, or get a stable carrer first?
Rick Riordan
Being an author is ABSOLUTELY NOT a reasonable career plan. Even most professional writers never make enough money to be a full time writer. The vast majority have other jobs. That isn't to say you shouldn't follow that dream if it is your goal, but my advice is to definitely have a secondary path that you can follow at the same time. Teaching was mine, though really I loved teaching and would have been happy to do that the rest of my life. I am lucky that my two favorite things went together so well. I learned from both of them.

Not as much of a question as it is a thank you, but I love that you have a deaf character, Hearth, in your books. Many authors don't have characters that have physical disabilities. Speaking as a teen with a disability, I was wondering if you are going to add another character with a disability in an upcoming book?

Have you seen any of the MANY web series made for your books? What do you think about them? And the web series are all great, but have you also read the countless fanfictions created? There are a bunch of amazing fanfictions, about EVERY possible scenario... and a lot of ships like Jason+Percy, KRONOS+Percy, Clarisse+Percy, and pretty much every character with Percy. Your opinion?

Hi, Rick! Just finished TSATS and it's absolutely my favorite book from the entire Riordanverse. I've been a PJO fan for +10 years now and as a bissexual person, it's so amazing to see how you keep giving us stories we can find ourselves within. For that, thank you! And I'd like to ask if you've read "The Song of Achilles" by Madeline Miller and if we're ever going to get our PJO-version of Achilles and Patroclus? <3
