Goodreads asked Nicole Gulotta:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Nicole Gulotta My cookbook, Eat This Poem, is an extension of my literary food blog of the same name. I created it to combine my love for food and poetry, at a time in my life where I was looking for a way to reconnect with my literary side. I studied poetry a lot in school, so when I graduated with my MFA, I didn't have many tools for how to appreciate poetry outside of an academic environment (where we study it and write papers about it, and are surrounded by other people who love the same thing). Let's just say I'd let that part of my life drift a way a bit as I focused on my career and getting used to a full-time schedule. I'd been cooking seriously for a number of years, and one day I simply read a poem—that happened to have a food reference—and immediately thought of a recipe I could develop. In that moment, I knew it was the perfect idea for a blog!
