Goodreads asked Marge Fenelon:

How do you get inspired to write?

Marge Fenelon I originally wanted to be a lawyer (no kidding). I wanted to go after the Mafia. When I was in high school, my older sister stole my diary and read it. I was furious at her, until she told me what a great writer I was and that I should consider that as my career choice. By the time I got to college, I realized she was right and majored in Journalism with a Public Relations minor. I enjoyed it for a number of years, but felt an emptiness inside but didn't really understand why.

One day, it hit me suddenly.

I was being called to use my talents exclusively for the Church - to turn hearts to God and help others to understand the beauty and significance of the Catholic Faith.

I promptly left all of my secular work, passed on a lucrative job in PR for a large healthcare organization, and dedicated my work to the Catholic Church. People thought I was crazy at the time, and I took some guff from an editor or two. But I never looked back. I know this is what God wants me to do.
