I work in Broadway and Film for a living, so I have set aside summers to always knock out a new novel (the "off" season for my other life). So for me a novel idea has to WAIT until I can pounce on it with time to write.
I already know what I'll be working on this coming summer, a novel with a main character who is both gay and has synesthesia (look it up, it's kind of amazing). I have a friend with synesthesia who is a brilliant musician as a result that has really inspired me to tell that story.
