Goodreads asked Randall Seeley:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Randall Seeley Set goals, and then do it. Writers by nature are habitual thinkers, and too many times we get to preoccupied with thinking to actually turn our thoughts into words. Unless we decide on a given date and time when we will be finished, there will always be more revisions and excuses to push it back another week, or month, or year. At the end of your life you'll look back and wonder why you never published a book. For me, I ended up deciding to write a novella first. This would force me to get my work out into the world and eliminate many excuses I'd use to procrastinate. Remember, the best stories are the ones we share with others, so hurry up and share your story!
