Your thrillers for adults have had a lot of success. What made you want to write a YA thriller series?

Steven James Over the years I've had ideas for stories that didn't fit into the adult series I was working on. Writing for young adults gave me the opportunity to explore some of those stories. Also, I have three daughters, two of whom are teenagers, and I thought it would be cool to write stories that they'd want to read. Also, I've always loved working with teenagers and this gave me the chance to write for them specifically. Or maybe it's because I just never quite grew up.

I have read your blurbs on the back of your books where you talk about your interests and passions and I have always wondered how similar / different your Patrick Bowers character is to your personality and interests in real life?

I think I found a goof in 'Opening Moves'. On the first page of ch. 16 it is mentioned that Patrick's age is 25. This is on 17th of November 1997. In 'The Pawn' it is mentioned in ch. 2 that Patrick wouldn't turn 36 'till January. This is on the 23rd of October 2008. So if my calculation is correct, Patrick should have been 26 in opening moves right? Not to be nitpicky, but I just thought it was interesting.
