Goodreads asked Michelle E. Lowe:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Michelle E. Lowe First and foremost, don’t follow trends, write what you love. Write your first draft with as much passion as you can muster. Letting yourself go completely in that first round, without worrying so much about perfection, will set your imagine as well as the story free. There’s plenty of time during the dreaded ‘editing stage’ to fret about making it pretty. First drafts ought to be ugly free spirits. And never rush through your writing just to get something out there. Take your time and polish your work until it shines like the gold you want it to be. Even if takes a year or more, it’s best to present your best work to the world rather than some sub-par, clutter mess. Take constructive criticism with a grain of salt. You’d be amazed of how your writing will flourish and progress if you simply listen to other's opinions and learn from your mistakes. Trust me, we’ve all gone through it.
