Elizabeth Bennet and Mr.Darcy from Pride and Prejudice are a favorite fictional couple of mine because they each start out so cock-sure of themselves, but learn humility and gratitude as they fall in love. Also, they come to know each other for who they really are, unlike many so-called "romances," which are really stories merely of physical attraction more than true love. Loving another person well requires humility and gratitude, so I like the nod to reality in this "happily-ever-after" fairy tale.
